This skilled nursing facility embarked on a mission of culture change in a focused shift towards resident centered care. Our firm was a strategic planning partner in helping to establish programmatic goals and their implementation. The cornerstones of our approach were to provide more resident amenity space on the nursing floors and to configure the infrastructure to support restaurant style dining. We re-planned a central clinical core more efficiently by overlapping functions that could be shared and eliminating areas no longer required by today’s codes. By reducing the core’s footprint, we were able to create a large central lounge with coffered ceilings and residential style furnishings. New pantries with dishwashers, steam tables, and storage were carved out of existing dining rooms to support plated food service using china and silverware.
